THE AUDITION:
BY APPOINTMENT ONLY — please email info@blackfriars.org to schedule your appointment no later than Friday, June 6th at 12pm; scroll to the bottom for video submission information if you cannot make this audition date.
Auditions will take place in 20-minute individual slots. Please see the bottom of this page for access to the Drive folder containing the script and audition packet.
THE NITTY-GRITTY:
We will be scheduling auditions in 20-minute individual slots. An audition packet is provided below that contains all materials to prepare in advance.
This role requires strong piano skills. Any musical pieces that are in the folder are meant to be played by the auditionee (piano provided).
Please bring a headshot/photo, resume, and your calendar to complete the rehearsal conflict calendar (YOU MUST FILL OUT A COMPLETE CONFLICT CALENDAR AT AUDITIONS).
THE PROCESS:
Rehearsals: begin in earnest as early as July 28th (possible music rehearsals prior to that date)
Tech: Aug 30 - Sept 3 (NO CONFLICTS)
Shows: Sept 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14
*hold dates for possible extension through Sept 21st; performances are at 7:30 on Thurs, Fri, and Sat; 2pm on Sunday
Blackfriars rehearses 4-6 times/week on nights and weekends. We do not create a final rehearsal schedule until we have a full list of cast and crew conflicts after casting.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Casting 1 actor/singer/pianist.
COSME MCMOON - male, any ethnicity, 50s- 60s, baritone | The former accompanist to Florence Foster Jenkins. Now a dapper man in his late 50s who performs as the musical act in a swanky supper club. Cosme serves as the narrator of the story, so ability to act and hold an audience’s attention is a must; must be a strong piano accompanist; singing required. Stipend: $1,500.

INITIAL AUDITIONS will take place at Blackfriars Theatre, 795 E Main St, Rochester 14605.
VIDEO AUDITIONS
If you cannot make auditions and wish to submit a video audition, please submit to info@blackfriars.org no later than Friday, June 6th at 12:00 p.m. (late submissions may not be seen before final considerations). Please provide video of you performing the requested audition packet materials. All musical pieces should be played by the auditionee.
