HOW IT WORKS:
During the Artistic Program, we will reveal a top secret line-up of four musicals we're considering for the 2026-2027 Season, and a cast of your favorite Blackfriars artists will perform two songs from each musical. Throughout the program, attendees will be given the chance to purchase votes for their favorite show. Purchase as many votes as you like - all proceeds will directly support Blackfriars Theatre's artistic and educational programming. At the end of the night, the show with the most votes will be programmed in our 2026-2027 Season! Vote often to ensure your favorite musical will make it into our 77th Season - and feel good in the knowledge that each vote purchased supports your local non-profit theatre company! Votes are available for purchase during the event only. Titles of shows under consideration will be unveiled during the event.

AS A TV SHOW: As Mrs. Kasha Davis says during Imagination Station events, we have to reach for our dreams, hold them in our hearts, and then work really hard to make them come true. Our team is currently hard at work to make our biggest dream come true… transforming our live theatrical events into a children’s television show! Working with our partner, Fish & Crown Creative, we filmed a four episode season of ISwMKD in August 2021 and now we’re currently in the process of shopping it to major networks and streaming services with the goal of spreading our message of love, kindness and authenticity to a global audience!
HOURGLASS PLAY READING SERIES
HOURGLASS PLAY READING SERIES
Date: TBA
After the Revolution centers on Emma Joseph, a young lawyer who has established a civil rights foundation in honor of her revered, blacklisted communist grandfather. Her idealistic view of her grandfather is shattered when a dark family secret is revealed. The play explores the intergenerational conflict within the family as they grapple with a thorny legacy, the meaning of truth, and Emma's struggle to forge her own identity and principles.
Date: TBA
Do You Feel Anger? by Mara Nelson-Greenberg is a surreal dark comedy that explores the anxieties and hostility of toxic workplaces and toxic masculinity, featuring an empathy coach hired to lead anger workshops at a debt collection agency. The play uses subtle exaggerations and absurdist elements to depict a world where characters suppress their needs to avoid male tantrums and the ever-present threat of workplace violence.
Date: TBA
King James centers on two men from different backgrounds who bond over their shared passion for basketball and their adoration of NBA superstar LeBron James. Set over twelve years, the story uses James's career as a backdrop to explore their complicated friendship, their varying views on race, and the profound connections that sports can foster. The play, which features two lead actors and is divided into four "quarters" corresponding to pivotal moments in LeBron James's career, never shows LeBron himself but rather the effect of his career on the two friends.
