THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO

THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO

WHY:

This gorgeous dramedy is a perfect fit for the 2018-19 season. It exemplifies the phrase: "We are family," as the Freitag clan grapples with their religious identity during a time of transition in American history. This play won the 1997 Tony Award and balances youthful levity with grief and the loss of tradition. Come see this show for the touching narrative and dynamic characters.

WHAT:

It is December, 1939 and the Freitag family (Alfred, his sister Boo, his sister-in-law Reba, and nieces Lala and Sunny) reside amongst the upper echelon of the German-Jewish community in Atlanta, GA. The group looks forward to attending the lavish social event of the season: Ballyhoo. This play light-heartedly explores the struggle with religious identity in times of great change.
